Frog Day

We had loads of fun celebrating our Frog Day today! We played frog games outside, ate frogs in blue jello and made a frog puppet this morning. In the afternoon, we wrote frog comics and watched The Magic School Bus Hops Home. Finally, we got to walk to Truro Creek to release our tadpoles back into nature. We wished them a safe and happy life in the creek. Our green picnic was delicious! Thanks to families for sending in green food and to Mrs. Alleyne for joining us.

Our field trip

We had a fantastic day on our field trip to the duck pond, the zoo, the adventure playground and the Special thanks to Mr. Galope, Ms. Woode, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Gallagher for coming with us. Here are some pictures of the room 8 kids having a wonderful time! 

Butterflies!

In Room 8, we had the magical experience of watching caterpillars grow and form their chrysalis and finally emerge as butterflies! We released them back into nature near our butterfly gardens at the front of the school. We made wishes for our butterflies to have happy lives!

Fun Stations

Thank you to our wonderful Linwood School Parent Council for planning an afternoon full of fun stations! We had a terrific time building with milk cartons, having relay races, playing with the parachute and enjoying a refreshing treat.

Grade 1 Farm

Exciting thing are happening in our class! Mrs. Turner collected some frog eggs. They hatched and our tadpoles are growing! This week we also got some duck eggs. They are in an incubator and they take 28 days to hatch. Hopefully we will have some ducklings in our class in a few weeks!

Learning about the Environment through Drama

We learned and played with Daina Leitold again today. She helped us pretend to be recyclables with our bodies and we made ourselves into new items. We took an imaginary trip to the dump and found treasures we could reuse. Finally we made a tableau of a garage sale and learned how to buy second-hand items rather than new items with lots of packaging. It is fun to use our imaginations to learn!

TIA (The Integrated Arts)

Today Daina, an actress and mime, came to our class to teach us how to act. We pretended to be in a forest and the arctic. We played some mime games and learned how to put on different faces. What fun it is using our imaginations!
