Daily 5 Outside

It was such a lovely day to end our I Love to Read week with reading outdoors. All students at Linwood were invited to enjoy their Daily 5 outside.  What fun!

Getting Wild in Grade One

It is getting wild in a Room 8! Our tadpoles are getting bigger and their colouring is looking more frog-like. Xander fed them some boiled lettuce today.

Also, today we received some new babies to take care of in our room! We have Painted Lady larvae - how exciting!!!  We prepared the food and made a little home for each caterpillar.  The children poked some holes for them so they could breathe. We will watch them grow and develop into butterflies!

Story on the Steps

What a treat! For I Love to Read week, we got to sit on the front steps to listen to Mrs. McDonald read us a story. It was an exciting pirate story and we enjoyed the story and sunshine :)

I Love to Read

As a kick-off to I Love to Read week, Ace Burpee came to Linwood School and read Swamp Water to us. He was so funny and there were giggles all around! He even had students come up to make sound effects. Reading with Ace Burpee is LOTS of fun!!! We love to read at Linwood!

Community Walk

Even though the weather was chilly, we had a great time on our community walk. We brought our iPads and took pictures of buildings that are important in our community. We have a very special community!

Spirit Week Stations

This afternoon, we had a wonderful time going to eight milk stations. Thank you to the parent volunteers who ran the stations. We had relays, rode noodle horses and even built with milk cartons.

We Celebrate Our Families

Our classroom is comprised of students from a diverse and special blend of families, each one unique. In room 8, we choose to recognize and celebrate the special people that make up our different families. For this reason, we do not celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day as individual holidays in our classroom. We leave it to families to acknowledge these holidays in their home as they see fit.  In our classroom, we will be recognizing the important people in our lives with a special “family” gift, which will be lovingly created sometime in late May.
