Outdoor Challenge Day 2

A little rain (or a lot of rain) couldn't stop these kids from having fun and learning outdoors!!! They helped build a shelter with tarps, built with the wet sand and had a ball playing with the water. We went geocaching but sadly didn't find any caches. We still enjoyed the nature walk though. Thanks for dressing your children for the weather.

Community Reviews

Room 8 is learning about our community in Social Studies. The children each selected a location in their community that they believe is a great place. We learned together how to write reviews by stating our opinion in a catchy way, adding reasons with supporting details, using transitional words (such as: next, then, finally) and then concluding our review by restating our opinion.

We thought families might enjoy reading these reviews. I imagine you will want to check out these places after reading about them as you will be so convinced by these persuasive writers. As possible, I will be delivering the reviews to the actual community place to share the wonderful reviews!

In my opinion, Sargent Sundae is the best. First, they have lots of flavours. They have mint chip and cookies and cream. One reason I like it is because I can walk there or drive or bike or skateboard. It is close to home. Finally, you can sit down and eat your delicious ice cream. You can walk to the park. Would you agree that Sargent Sundae is the best?

In my opinion, the Forks hotel is a great place for a wedding. First, you get a little box with candies inside. The candies were all shapes and sizes. Secondly, they serve ice cream there. It was awesome. Thirdly, the food was awesome. We had to order online. Would you agree that the Forks hotel is the best?

I like my dad’s park the best. My daddy’s park is big. There are three structures. I like my daddy’s swings. My dad’s swings go fast. If you need a swing, there are six swings available. I like the slides. The slides have different speeds. The left slide is the fastest and is the best one. Everyone should go to my dad’s park. It has everything you need in a park and it is very big.

My opinion is that High Tea Bakery is awesome! One reason is that they have the best cookies ever. You can get sprinkles. You can get any colour in the world. Secondly, you can go outside or inside. You can only go outside if it is warm. Thirdly, it is close to home. You can drive there. Finally, High Tea Bakery has cupcakes!!!! You can get icing any colour. As you can see, High Tea Bakery is the best!

In my opinion, U-Puttz is the best place to go. To start with, you can play laser gun tag. When you shoot at someone, they can’t shoot anymore.  Next, U-Puttz has bumper cars. Sometimes people bump you so hard that you bounce really high. My third reason is that U-Puttz has a sea and dinosaur golf course. The golf course gets easy to ultra-hard. Finally, U-Puttz has an arcade. One of my favourite games is Jurassic World. As you can see, U-Puttz is the best place ever. You have to go there!

It means that they are speedy. Thirdly, sometimes there is music outside. Finally, they are in a great neighbourhood. That means that they are friendly. As you can see, Sargent Sundae is the best ice cream shop!

Assiniboine Park should be the most legendary park in the world! One reason is because of the Teddy Bear Picnic. You can get your favourite teddy bear fixed.  Another reason is that you can get ice cream right over the bridge. The ice cream shop has the best ice cream in the universe.  There are nice playgrounds there that are almost like a school playground.  The playground is fun because it is like gymnastics inside. Finally, Assiniboine Park is beautiful because of the white bridge. As you can see from the bridge, there is a nice angle to the nice, clean water. I love that place because it is very beautiful. Everyone should love the Assiniboine Park because it is awesome!

The zoo is a great place to go. It has animals at the zoo. You can play at the zoo. I love the zoo. My favourite part is the lions. Now you see why I love the zoo.

I think Joey’s Only Seafood is the best! First, they cook their heads off and make really wonderful food. They cook shrimp and salmon with rice.  Another reason is they have so many options. They have shrimp and salmon and lunch stuff. Thirdly, they have lunch specials. The prices are cheap.  Now you know Joey’s Only is the best restaurant.

In my opinion, the Assiniboine Park Zoo is the best ever! First, the dinosaurs are very real looking. The dinosaurs are big and they move. Secondly, they have cool toys like teeth in the gift shop. They have stuffies of dinosaurs on leashes. The zoo is fun. You might see someone you know. Finally, you will see it is so fun. You might see a cute little polar bear. Now you know why the Assiniboine Park Zoo is the best!

I believe that Assiniboine Park is the best park. First, there are lots of people there. They come because it is a huge park. You should go there and you will know how awesome it is. McDonalds is the best restaurant in the universe! First, they even have kid’s meals. You even get toys and the toys are so fun! Secondly, they have the best burgers ever! I can’t eat the bun though but I am not sad. Thirdly, they even have ice cream, even though it is not an ice cream store. I love the kind of ice cream they have. Most importantly, the fries are also so good. You can add vinegar to your French fries. As you can see, McDonalds is the best!

I feel that St. James Lanes is the best place to bowl! First, the people that work there are nice! They are so nice that they sometimes let us bowl for free! Secondly, you can go bowling and it is so fun. It is so much fun you can come here every day!  Thirdly, they make you feel like family. Everybody there feels like family too. Finally, St. James is the best bowling alley ever. They are an awesome place. As you can see, St. James Bowling is the best!

I think McDonalds is awesome! First, they have a slide that goes around and around in a circle. It is so much fun! Another reason is that you can make new friends. They give you chicken nuggets, fries and a dipper. Another reason is that you get a different toy in every meal. The toy can be Angry Birds or a different kind. All in all, McDonalds is a great restaurant!

I love the Malachi Lake Community Centre. First it has a candy sale. The candy is the best because they have lots of flavours. Secondly, you can also see the trains close up. You can get picked up from the passenger train. You can go back to Winnipeg.  Finally, it has a beautiful view! You can see lots of water.  Now you know that is the best place ever!

If you have never tried going to the Assiniboine Park, you should go today!
