Math Centers

We worked on our patterning skills during math centers today.  We practiced creating and extending patterns!

Fall Celebration

Today in Room 8, we celebrated the arrival of fall. The children listened to some great fall stories and studied their leaves. We enjoyed creating our leaf rubbings with fall colours. Finally, we read about the secret star hidden inside each apple and had an apple taste test. Happy fall!

Talking Sticks

Today Mr. Solomon came to the classroom. He taught about talking sticks. He brought his own big talking stick.  We got to make a classroom talking stick. First, we picked two beads and put them on a ribbon. Then we picked our own favourite colour of feather. Mr. Solomon tied our ribbons onto the stick. We put our name on the stick.

A talking stick is something you hold when it is your turn to talk.  Everyone else should be listening.

Maddy said, "It was fun making it!"

Regan said, "They are usually small."

Aidan said, "Mr. Solomon taught us that talking sticks don't actually talk!"

Reminder

Tuesday, September 17th is early dismissal (3:10) and picture day.

We would like to welcome our new grade one students and their families to Room 8. We are so excited to meet you all and begin a wonderful year of growing and learning together.
