Family Fun Night

Thanks to all of our families who were able to attend! It was a great night of fun and learning together!

Wonderful Writers

I had the privilege of attending an incredible professional development workshop with one of the leaders in teaching young children to write - Regie Routman. In applying her techniques, it has been so exciting to see our Room 8 students grow as writers.

We are currently writing non-fiction chapter books. The students are writing on topics of interest, such as race cars, parties, sharks, video games, snowboarding and much more.  The children have learned to plan across their fingers, group like facts together and write more by using "twin sentences". Most students are writing books with four to five chapters with many interesting facts in each chapter.

Our classroom library will be richer when these wonderful stories are published!

Dental Health

Today Natasha from Kid's Dental World came to visit us in Room 8. We learned all about how teeth work and how to take care of our teeth. Natasha gave each child a bag full of treasures including a new toothbrush! Be sure to brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day.

Day of Pink

Today we participated in The Day of Pink to raise awareness about bullying. We made pink badges to wear for those who did not have a pink shirt, watched a video made by Room 4 and had some great discussions!
